Disclaimer

Last updated: October 12, 2026

The information and tools on ExifTool.net are provided for general purposes. Please read this disclaimer carefully before relying on them.

1. No guarantee of complete removal

We work to detect and remove common metadata containers such as EXIF, IPTC, XMP, ICC profiles, document properties and tags. File formats are complex and evolve constantly, so we cannot guarantee that every identifying detail will be found or removed. Always check the cleaned file, and avoid sharing sensitive files if the risk is unacceptable.

2. Content may still identify you

Removing metadata does not alter visible content. People, faces, text, landmarks, reflections, file names, watermarks and writing style can still identify you or a location.

3. Use at your own risk

You are responsible for how you use the tools and the files you produce. We are not liable for loss, corruption or alteration of files. Keep a backup of originals.

Content on the Site is informational only and is not legal, privacy, security, forensic or other professional advice. Consult a qualified professional for your situation. Do not rely on the tool to meet legal evidence, compliance or regulatory standards.

5. Accuracy

We try to keep information accurate and up to date, but we make no representation about completeness, reliability or timeliness. Metadata fields, risk scores and map links are indicators and may contain errors.

6. Trademarks

ExifTool is a separate open-source project created by Phil Harvey. ExifTool.net is an independent website and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by that project. All other product names and trademarks belong to their respective owners.

We are not responsible for the content, accuracy or practices of third-party websites, advertisers or services reachable from the Site.
