DMCA & Copyright Policy
Last updated: October 12, 2026
We respect intellectual property rights. Because files you open in the tool stay on your device, we do not host user files. If you believe content on the Site itself infringes your copyright, follow the process below.
1. No hosting of user content
ExifTool.net does not upload, store or publish user files. We therefore cannot remove or disable access to files that are processed locally on someone’s device.
2. Submitting a notice
Send a written notice to contact@exiftool.net that includes:
- Your physical or electronic signature as the copyright owner or authorised agent.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed.
- Identification of the material on the Site you claim is infringing, with enough detail (such as a URL) for us to locate it.
- Your name, address, telephone number and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are authorised to act for the copyright owner.
3. Counter-notice
If material was removed and you believe it was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice containing your signature, identification of the removed material and its previous location, a statement under penalty of perjury of your good-faith belief, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the relevant court. We may restore the material within 10 to 14 business days unless the original complainant files a court action.
4. Repeat infringers
Where appropriate, we will limit or terminate access for users who are repeat infringers.
5. Misrepresentations
Knowingly making a false claim of infringement may expose you to liability for damages under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).
